Hi! My name is WanYu Yao. I go by Winnie in English. I'm a master's student at the University of California, Berkeley, where I study journalism and pursue a data science certificate.
I have an interdisciplinary background spanning journalism, public relations and marketing. Along the way, I’ve discovered that my passions come together at the intersection of data graphics, visual design and multimedia storytelling. I love transforming information into engaging visuals that tell compelling stories.
Before coming to Berkeley, I earned double majors in Journalism and Political Science at National Chengchi University in Taipei, Taiwan.
I speak Mandarin, English, Hokkien and basic Korean.
When I’m not on a deadline, you might find me piecing together jigsaw puzzles. 🧩 ✨
